The Basics

Are you just getting into Revit family modeling? This is where you can start, and get the basic concepts to build-up your skills.

In this module we bring together all the topics that will help you to start modeling BIM objects in the Family format of Autodesk Revit.

No prior knowledge of Autodesk® Revit modeling or BIM object creation is required. If you have knowledge about Autodesk® Revit and construction you will be able to go faster through this module.

As a starting point, we´ll see:

Family Editor
Parameters
Reference Planes and Lines
Family planning techniques
Excercise: Family Person!
Excercise: Parametric chair

The topics that this module contains…

In this module we will look at a variety of topics, including some that are made up of several sections, that describe how to use software tools and how to best use them.

The module is composed of topics in consecutive order, but in each topic there may be links that redirect to other related topics in another position within the same module or even in other modules.

Decication, patience, and much encouragement!

All worthwhile knowledge requires time and effort. We have designed each topic so that you can study it individually, or to come back to it if necessary.

We understand that each new skill is developed through practice and experience. For this reason, we recommend that you take time to consolidate your knowledge and review the topics as many times as necessary. Each exercise is also designed to put all acquired knowledge into practice with enough room for you to explore and adapt the exercise in your own way.

Feeling stuck? Don’t fret!

If for any reason you find yourself stuck on a topic and cannot progress, you can always contact us, via the yellow Feedback tab that appears the right margin of each page, where you can give us feedback, request improvements, propose topics, and request personalized consulting.
